Jersey Green Room Club celebrates its centenery
Thursday 11th June 2009, 3:00PM BST.
WEDNESDAY night was the first night of 100 Years of Show Stoppers, the centenary concert of the Jersey Green Room Club.
Revised and researched by the late David Love, the show tells the history of an amateur society by offering up snippets of the club’s and the Island’s history and tasters of the many shows that the members have taken part in over the last 100 years.
As a snapshot, it was useful to show the talent that has produced those shows, sung the songs, designed the costumes and tap-danced across the stage at the Opera House and other Island theatres over the years.
Equally important, however, was that the concert was proof in one night of the enormous variety of work that various members set their minds to.
