Made MBEs in the Queen's birthday honours: Brian Curtis, Rosemary Coote and Paul du Feu
HUNDREDS of Islanders attended a reception at Government House on Friday evening to celebrate the Queen’s official birthday.
The Lieutenant-Governor, Lieutenant-General Andrew Ridgway, mingled with guests, including the Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, and Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur.
Entertainment was provided by the Band of the Island of Jersey and later members of the 1781 Jersey Militia performed a 21-gun salute.
During the ceremony, the Lieutenant-Governor announced the names of three Islanders made Members of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen’s birthday honours.
Islander Brian Curtis was recognised for his voluntary service to people in Jersey who are in financial difficulties. Rosemary Coote was recognised for her work helping disadvantaged children in Romania and Paul du Feu was rewarded for his dedication as a swimming coach.
Two Island charities – the Samaritans and the Parkinson’s Disease Society – also received Queen’s Awards in recognition of their service.
