Let’s have many more places for mothers and babies, please

From Leanda Guy.
I write regarding the letter (JEP 11 June) from Kim Hanson. Well said Kim! Whether bottle-feeding or breast-feeding, the new initiative at The Bridge will provide a great meeting place for mums to catch up, share hints and tips as well as be a place to feed their babies however they choose.
Not everyone can or wants to breast-feed, but like all decisions you make with your children, from feeding, stem cell banking, MMR or single jabs, what schools they go to, to what they have for tea, it should be your choice.
While Kim inquires whether bottle-feeders are welcome, it also begs the question, is there a ‘daddy facility’ for when their charges need that bottle?
Let’s hope it’s the first of many more baby-friendly places locally that make it easy for mums, dads, nanas and papas, because we all know, when your baby needs feeding … your baby needs feeding.
Many local establishments could do better with their nappy-changing facilities, too. A nappy-fill in town can create a huge and stressful challenge if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time, so more easily accessible and clean changing facilities everywhere too, please. Here’s to choice!
