AFTER a disappointing first day at Les Creux on Sunday, Jersey’s bowlers came up trumps yesterday, when a St Brelade’s quartet walked off with the British Isles women’s fours title.

Carole Allen, Chris Grimes, Gean O’Neil and Karina Bisson started well and proved too good for a Croydon quartet skipped by Carole Cuell, and took the title with a well-deserved 16-13 final victory.

The first six ends of the final proved decisive, as Bisson’s team picked up three singles, a double and a four while conceding a single, and were 9-1 in front after six ends.

‘It was a great team performance,’ said Bisson. ‘Carole, Chris and Gean all played well, and, after taking an early lead, all we had to do was to hang on and close the game down.’
