Did you know David Hixon-Broad?

Thursday 18th June 2009, 8:43AM BST.

Sarah Hixon-Broad has been in touch to try to find out if her father-in-law David James Hixon-Broad had any surviving relatives in Jersey.

She would very much like to make contact in the hope of learning more about him and his childhood in Jersey.

‘He has sadly passed away but has children and grandchildren living in the Southampton area,’ says Sarah in an e-mail to the JEP. ‘He was adopted as a child in his teens so we know very little about his birth family.’

He was born on 9 March, 1942, possibly in the St Helier area, and his full name was David James Hixon-Broad, although this was spelt Hixton-Broad on one document which the family are in possession of.

At the age of 14, he was fostered by Barnardo’s and he lived in the Newbury area before he was adopted by a Mr and Mrs Carpenter in Fair Oak, Eastleigh.

‘We do know that his birth mother tried to make contact with him later in life. However, at the time, nothing came of this,’ says Sarah..

She is hoping that although he left the Island at a young age, someone might remember the name and get in touch.

Anyone who can help is asked to e-mail her at sarah@zermatt-properties.com or call 44 (0) 7958 134359.
