Impressive production of Kiss me Kate
Friday 19th June 2009, 2:57PM BST.
WITH a full cast of excellent singers and dancers, the opening night of the Jersey Amateur Dramatic Club’s summer show, Kiss Me Kate, was heartily applauded by a fair-sized audience.
There was plenty of energy on stage, and the club has drawn together some amazing talent for this production. Having professional and semi-professional singers made a world of difference to the overall quality, although there were one or two lapses of memory, it must be said.
The productions at the Opera House in recent years have been so much better for the vastly improved sound system that allows the audience to hear what is being sung, and it was a pleasure to be able to do so.
Kiss Me Kate is an ambitious show to put on, but I was generally impressed by the overall result. I’m sure that by the next performance the gremlins will have been dispatched. It’s well worth seeing.
Kiss Me Kate continues at the Opera House until 28 June.
