FORMER Rozel Rovers FC and Island squad goalkeeper Frazer Siddall has been selected to represent Great Britain at next month’s World University Games in Serbia.

Siddall, who is now playing for Western Knights in Australia’s ‘A’ League, has just graduated from Rollins College in the USA. He was also a member of the 2007 World University Games squad.

The GB squad, who have a ten-day preparation camp at Lilleshall, have two pre-tournament matches against Welsh club TNS, the League of Wales entrants in next season’s Champions’ League.

Great Britain face a tough Pool A opener against Mexico. This is followed by hosts Serbia and finally Ghana to end the group stage on 4 July.

A top two place in Pool A would ensure progress to the top eight and secure inclusion for the Games in 2011.

Great Britain coach Graeme Dell has included eight students with previous World University Games experience in Bangkok.

This is great news but typical Jersey. They want all the credit and front page news, but never put their hands in their pockets to help pay for any of the brilliant sportsmen to go away. I know loads of people traveling to the UK to pursue their dream having to pay all their fees with no help from anyone.
