THE number of cases of swine flu in Jersey has more than doubled in the last day.

A further five new cases of the disease have now been confirmed, bringing the total number of local patients up to eight.

The Health Department yesterday confirmed an additional three new cases and this morning they then confirmed a further two.

All five new cases are related to the Helvetia House School patient – who was one of two cases confirmed last Thursday.

A swine flu helpline 445566 is open Monday to Friday between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm.
