Zane in shape for Bedford Euro trial
Wednesday 24th June 2009, 2:58PM BST.
JERSEY discus and shot star Zane Duquemin, a member of the NatWest Island Games squad, says he is in the shape of his life and ready to prove it at the European Junior trials in Bedford this weekend.
The 17-year-old De La Salle College pupil faces a tough task to book a place at the European Junior Championships in Serbia later this summer.
He will go head-to-head with training partner and reigning Commonwealth Youth Games champion Curtis Griffith-Parker but believes he can upset the odds.
‘Training and preparations leading up to Bedford have gone very well – I have picked up no injuries and I have been throwing some very good distances in training,’ said Duquemin. ‘I’ve never been in such good shape so I could not be more prepared for the competition. This is what I have been training for all season.’
