ONE of Jersey’s best known netball coaches has been named Grassroots Coach of the Year at this year’s regional Goalden Globes Awards.

Island coach Linda Andrews, who also coaches Convent, was named the Netball South-West winner and will now go forward to the England Netball National Goalden Globe Awards on 19 September.

Speaking this morning Andrews said: ‘I’m thrilled to win and have been walking around all day with a big smile on my face – I’m so happy.

‘It was very kind of the Jersey Netball Association to think of putting me forward. It’s not something you think you’ll ever win but it’s wonderful for Jersey netball that they are recognising what we are doing.’
