THE traditional Cornish pasty is coming to Jersey.

A branch of the famous Pasty Presto chain of food stores is likely to open in the Island later this year. A deal has been struck between local retail group Sandpiper CI and Pasty Presto to manage the brand in the Channel Islands.

The first store will open in Guernsey in August with more to follow in both Jersey and Guernsey when suitable locations are acquired.

Sandpiper CI chief executive Tony O’Neill said: ‘This is a high quality operation and all products will be sourced from their traditional Cornish base. For the first time, residents of both islands will be able to enjoy a range of unique pastry and pasty products.’

I like really good pasties and hope these are really tasty BUT could we not make a JERSEY PASTY at our very large bakery with our own LOCAL produce–once again “THINK LOCAL”

Don’t be so cynical Pasty Lover. Of course they will “THINK LOCAL” and add 30% to the price paid by our brythonic Cornish cousins.

I will only support this if they agree to include the “Jersey Wonder” on menus throughout their Group (Including Cornwall). Does anyone have a recipe for this local delicacy?
    Oh and Jersey clotted cream!
