Jersey’s first gold
Monday 29th June 2009, 3:01PM BST.
Jersey recorded their first gold medal of the NatWest Island Games this afternoon and, not surprisingly, it came on the shooting range.
Jennifer Ward, the wife of ace pistol shooter Dave, teamed up with Mary Norman to top the women’s ISSF 25m sports pistol event, with a score of 1,033 – just two more than the Aland team.
Jersey have also added an air rifle silver to their total, with Stephen Bouchard and Andrew Chapman earning silver in the ISSF 50m prone team event, 19 marks behind the winners from Gibraltar.
The Jersey team now have five medals in total, one gold, two silvers and two bronzes.
