Another two golds for Ian Black
Jersey moved into second place in the Island Games medal table this evening.
A tremendous gold from Zane Duquemin in the men’s discus put the Island team two golds behind leaders Faroes and one ahead of third-placed Gotland
Duquemin’s gold followed a glut of medals from the pool and athletics track.
Again leading the way was swimmer Ian Black with another two golds, backed up by title-winning performances from Katie Speller, her second gold, and Ebony Jackson.
On the track there was gold from shot putter Kathryn Rothwell and 400m star Gemma Dawkins. Staying on the track, Peter Irving secured his second silver, this time in the sprint hurdles, and Felicity Johnson-Deeley added to the medal tally with bronze in the 1,500m.
The air pistol team won bronze in ISSF 10m discipline, while in the pool there were additional silvers won by Katy and Emma Glendening, taking silver and bronze, respectively in the 800m freestyle, Charlotte Manning and Katie Speller.
The table tennis team won a brilliant silver, losing in the final to Gotland, after beating Guernsey in the semi-final this morning.
