Gemma leads way with four wickets
Thursday 9th July 2009, 2:59PM BST.
LUTEA Mavericks were led to victory by Gemma Dunning last night as the medium-pacer returned a four-wicket haul for 35 runs to help her team beat St John in Division II of the NatWest Evening League.
Despite 50 runs from Jamie Smith, who retired, and 30 by Rob English, Dunning grabbed her wickets in three overs as St John tried to push their run-rate on towards the end of their innings. The Saints eventually finished on 118 for seven in their allotted 12 overs at FB3.
St John bowled and fielded well making Mavericks work for every run and some big shots towards the end of the innings by Alan Morris (53 retired) and Andy Ricketts (24 not out) took Mavericks to victory with three balls to spare.
John Evans bowled well for the losers with two wickets for 16 runs in three overs.
