THE top two teams in this week’s six-team ICC European Under-19 cricket Division I championship will qualify for the global qualifier for the 2010 U19 World Cup.
Jersey and Guernsey are playing in Division I for the first time this year and the face stiff opposition, starting today, in the round-robin tournament against Denmark, Scotland, Ireland and Netherlands.
Jersey entertains Scotland at the Farmers’ Field in St Martin while Guernsey are at Grainville against Denmark.
Ireland start as favourites today as they have eight players who competed in the last ICC European U19 Division I tournament last year, all but one whom went on to play in the U19 World Cup.
