Exchange plans major summit

THE Guernsey-based Channel Islands Stock Exchange is planning a ‘show-stopping’ international summit during Battle of Britain week in September.
The first event of this kind will be held in Guernsey but the CISX says it intends to alternate between Jersey and Guernsey in future years.
Topics to be discussed will include the European Union Alternative Fund Management Directive, which is currently seen as a threat not only in the Channel Islands, but also in London.
The chief executive of the CISX, Tamara Menteshvili, told Jersey Finance members this week that she wanted to build on the good publicity generated from the April G20 summit, when the Channel Islands were included on the OECD’s white list of co-operative jurisdictions.
‘Every place has its icon and we want to make this a show stopper for the Channel Islands,’ she said.
