Thanks Gerald and Lee
Saturday 18th July 2009, 2:59PM BST.
From N Brown.
AS a member of Rotary de la Manche, my husband offered his services, and mine, along with many other Rotarians to help at Durrell’s open day.
I have done many voluntary duties over the years, but never as a car park attendant. It was three hours of fun and thanks must go to the many smiling faces going in and out, who had to put up with amateurs finding them parking spaces.
However, I do hope that all those happy families pondered, when they got home, as to how Durrell survives.
Certainly not on open day. Membership to Durrell is so cheap if you compare it to other facilities.
We have been members since our own children were small and, while we did not use our membership card for many years, we are enjoying taking our granddaughter there now.
Annual membership, to us, is a donation to a facility which we have to support. If not, we, and all those who enjoyed their free day out will be the losers.
Many thanks to Gerald Durrell, his widow Lee and all those who have made Durrell what it is today.
