Improving on the status quo
Friday 24th July 2009, 2:59PM BST.
From Colin Wilkes.
HAVING just returned from Jersey, I would like to say how much we enjoyed our stay.
In particular, I was impressed with the Status Quo concert in Howard Davis Park. I have been to many outdoor concerts, but the organisation of the concert in Jersey was the best.
Thanks to a young man called Peter, the entrance to the concert was made quick and easy, not the usual free for all experienced at other concerts. The atmosphere was good and friendly, no fighting or rowdiness, the music was great and the firework display was most enjoyable.
At the end of the show the organisation again proved its worth, with the crowd having a smooth exit from the park, not the mad crush usual at other events. Without the rain it would have been perfect, but who can control the weather.
Thank you, Jersey, for a great concert. We shall be back for another visit.

Well said Mr Wilkes, this was a great evening and the Quo were right on form. It was a shame that because of disturbance fears they did not manage an encore, and the end was therefore a little curtailed as a result. However the quality of the performance more than compensated for that.Great event organisation, and the venue just right for occasional gigs of this quality. How about some of the other talented groups of the Quo vintage, Roger Hodgson co-founder and singer songwriter of Supertramp does a great show if he could be persuaded to come? And there is talent in subsequent generations that might like to try say an unplugged performance in a more intimate setting?Performers get feedback from smaller gigs that is different from that in a packed stadium, and it is often a good time to try out new material.
