JERSEY’S ICC Europe Under-15 Division I championship hopes lie in the hands of the weather today in Scotland.

Peter Gough’s team retained their one-point lead at the top of the six-nation table yesterday after defeating The Netherlands by 85 runs. And with thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast today it would be hard on the Jersey teenagers if they were prevented from winning the tournament by the weather.

Jersey manager Chris Minty said: ‘Obviously we’d love to finish with a win. However there is a lot of distance between the venues and it’s possible that Ireland could play and win their final game and if we get washed out we would get one point and Ireland have two and then it would be decided on wickets/run-rate.

‘Hopefully that will not happen and all the games are completed but the forecast is not good at all and the wickets are extremely wet already.’

Today’s final matches are: Jersey v Denmark; Ireland v Scotland and Guernsey v The Netherlands.
