Net gains from successful fish festival

The Jersey Fish Festival

THE Island’s fishermen let their hair down on Saturday by soaking each other in a fun and colourful water carnival at the Jersey Fish Festival.

Some of them also became chefs for the event by cooking a wide range of local seafood – dishes which proved a major attraction at the festival on Victoria Pier which attracted 4,000 people.

Staging this event was the fishermen’s way of welcoming Islanders and visitors to their world.

It was aimed at raising awareness of the effort and sometimes risk which goes into them catching and bringing ashore the wide range of fresh seafood which makes Jersey famous for its gastronomic delights.

one of the most enjoyable days out in Jersey for a long time. Charging £5 entry was a great idea. Havre des Pas Seaside festival should do the same.
