Richardson the record-breaker
Wednesday 29th July 2009, 3:00PM BST.
AIB Tigers’ Iona Richardson became the only female Jersey swimmer ever to break the one minute barrier in the 100m freestyle long course yesterday after a massive PB of 59.93 at the first day of the ASA Youth Championships in Sheffield.
Richardson was the only Tigers swimmer to PB at the competition yesterday with everyone finding the going quick and tough.
However, Ebony Jacklin, only recently returned from illness, did come close and equalled her PB also in the 100m freestyle.
In yesterday’s other events, both Emma Glendening and Charlotte Manning had disappointing first swims, while Tom Gallichan just missed out on the semi-finals of the 100m backstroke, coming 25th with his best event still to come.
