JERSEY dismissed one of the pre-tournament favourites Scotland yesterday to take their first win in the Under-17 ICC Division I European Championship.

Having taken early wickets, with four falling before the end of the 12th over, Jersey followed a steady course with Charles Perchard and Ben Stevens taking two a piece as James Faudemer bowled his ten overs for one wicket and just 18 runs.

However, it was 16-year-old Alexander Noel who cleared out the tail enders with three swift wickets in just under two overs to halt the opposition’s charge at 127 in the 41st over.

Though chasing 128 runs seemed a reasonable task it didn’t go to plan with Jersey looking in trouble having lost three wickets at 29 until leading run scorer Tim de la Haye resuscitated the side’s hopes with 28 following Corne Bodenstein’s 17.
