Beachgoers beware the fearsome Man o’ War
Saturday 1st August 2009, 2:58PM BST.
MARINE experts have warned Islanders to stay away from one of the ocean’s most feared creatures if any come ashore this summer.
There is a good chance that Portuguese men-o’-war, with their deadly sting and Cornish pasty-shaped blue and pink bodies, might wash up.
The warning about the danger of coming into contact with the creatures comes in Jersey after conservationists in the UK urged beachgoers to be on their guard.
It has been reported that they are washing up on the sands of Devon and Cornwall.
