WE write with reference to your article (JEP, 23 July) headlined ‘Our building site hell’.

Prior to the start of the refurbishment, all residents were informed that there would be a certain amount of disruption and disturbance due to the nature of the work involved.

The majority of residents are accepting of this, in the knowledge that we will all enjoy a higher standard of accommodation on completion of the above refurbishment.

Consequently we wish to distance ourselves from the remarks quoted anonymously by a very small minority, to the effect that everyone is moaning and likening it to ‘living in a concentration camp’, comments which are not a true reflection of the feelings of the rest of the residents.

We should also like to make it clear that the Housing Department and the site foreman have been both available and helpful at all times, addressing any issues or questions that may arise.
