Grassroots festivalgoers sing in the rain
Monday 3rd August 2009, 3:00PM BST.
YOU could spot all the sensible people at Val de la Mare on Saturday – they were the ones wearing wellies.
It is fair to say that the sun did not shine on the organisers of the Grassroots Festival, but if the torrential rain in the early afternoon did put anyone off, they missed a good
afternoon and some great music, reaching a peak with headliner Newton Faulkner.
Although the rain did become rather less relentless as Pete Murray took to the stage, it still made its presence felt right to the end of the night, but a few cagouls and brollies kept the audience swelling as evening came on.
