JERSEY racing driver, James Walker, is currently second in the 2009 Formula Renault 3.5 Championship after finishing sixth and eighth in the Renault World Series at the Autodromo Internacional Algarve at Portimao, Portugal, on Saturday.

Despite a tough battle in Friday’s qualifying round, when Walker’s times placed him 14th on the grid for the first of two races which followed immediately afterwards, from the start he determined to pick off drivers in front of him.

After a tricky start and accelerating through tricky corners on the Autodromo circuit, be halfway through the race he had moved up into tenth place.

When fellow drivers Move, Sabatino and Turvey had a coming-together which slowed all three down, Walker simply eased past the three of them, thereby moving up three places in one fluid movement.

Good to see organisations like Jersey Post ,Horizon financial Services and Jersey.com get behind a locally born driver who has the potential to reach F1 and bring a lot of business and kudos to the Island , Its just a shame that the facilities to get more like James up the motorsport ladder i.e. a proper kart circuit is sadly missing .
