A JERSEY soldier is recovering after being seriously injured in a roadside bomb attack while on foot patrol in Afghanistan.
Lance-Corporal Phil Le Gros suffered a broken jaw and a perforated eardrum as well as shrapnel wounds to his upper body.
He was released from a military hospital in Birmingham yesterday after being treated for wounds he sustained in the ambush by militants on 23 July.
L/Cpl Le Gros, who now lives in Sheffield but hails from St Ouen, is a Territorial Army soldier.
He was on foot patrol with colleagues in Helmand Valley when he sustained injuries to his upper body and head from the improvised explosive device.
