Boxing legend coming to Jersey

Hotel de France to host the boxing legend

A DEAL has been done to bring one of the world’s boxing greats to Jersey later this year.

Sugar Ray Leonard – the man remembered for his speed and grace around the ring and famed for fights against Roberto Duran, Thomas ‘Hit Man’ Hearns, and Marvin Hagler – will be the star attraction at the Jersey Dinner Boxing Club event at the Hotel de France on 8 October.

The evening with the 1976 Olympic gold medallist and multiple weight world champion, which is being held in conjunction with Dragon Promotions, will also feature former world champion John H Stracey and Mike Tyson’s former sparring partner Joe Egan.

Amateur boxing will also be on the bill as Jersey take on a South of England Select side in a battle for the Fitzgerald Estates Gold Cup.
