Pensioner dies in St Martin crash

A PENSIONER died yesterday after losing control of his Landrover and crashing into a wall in St Martin.
The police believe Herbert Alexander de la Mare (76) may have suffered a sudden illness seconds before the accident on Rue du Clos Fallu at about 5.30 pm.
Mr de la Mare suffered multiple injuries in the crash and was later pronounced dead in the accident and emergency department of the Hospital.
He was the only person in the car and no one else was involved in the accident.
Jason Hamon, Ambulance Service station officer, said: ‘The casualty suffered significant head and chest injuries. He was treated at the scene by two ambulance crews, myself and a hospital anaesthetist who lived nearby before being taken to the Hospital.’
