Guernsey first target – then Italy
Friday 7th August 2009, 3:00PM BST.
JERSEY cricket coach Craig Hogan is confident he has the side to win tomorrow’s inter-insular in Guernsey.
With preparations for the match going well Hogan said: ‘We’ve got a very strong side for the game and I think we’ve got everything covered as we have strong batsmen, strong bowlers and we’re good in the field too.
‘Guernsey are always tough opposition and they’ve got their World Cricket League Division VI tournament in Singapore coming up so they will be using this as a serious practice game before that.
‘But for Saturday’s game we have talked about going out there and playing to our strengths and if we can do that I know we will play well.’
The Jersey Cricket Board plays host to a team from Italy next week with two Twenty20 matches and a 50 over match scheduled. Hogan said: ‘I’m not sure what sort of side Italy will bring over but we will have eight or nine of our senior team involved and players from the under-19 setup as well.’
