For the first time in around 20 years, Jersey will play host to a competition featuring world ranked squash players next month.

The Island beat off stiff competition from clubs all over the UK to be chosen to host the British Squash Professional Association’s UK Grand Prix Finals from 3-5 September.

The competition features some of the UK’s top players and is sure to benefit local squash, according to Jersey director of squash Nick Taylor.

The finals, which will be held at the Jersey Squash Club, are the culmination of the BSPA’s Grand Prix circuit and feature the top eight men and top four women, after nine and five results respectively.

Jersey was chosen after Taylor was approached by BSPA tour director, Tim Garner, and asked to consider hosting the event.
