In search of John and Jean Noel
Wednesday 12th August 2009, 3:00PM BST.
Iain Sutherland, of Poole in Dorset, has e-mailed in the hope of making contact with a John and Jean Noel, who are old friends of his father’s.
Mr Sutherland has already tried all the J Noels in the Jersey telephone directory to no avail, and is now hoping that an appeal via the JEP will result in information coming to light.
He and his father, Douglas, who also lives in Poole are particularly keen to discover if the Noels live in the Island as they are planning a trip to Jersey later this year.
He says that John and Jean Noel had four sons, Philip, Peter, Michael and Ian, and that they believe that they moved to Jersey from Dawlish, Devon, 25 to 35 years ago.
‘My father first met Jean when she was appearing in a touring company of “Brigadoon” that performed over the festive season 1950-51 at the Kings Theatre in Glasgow,’ said Mr Sutherland. ‘They kept in touch until the late 1960s but contact petered out.
‘During a recent trip to Dawlish we spoke to an old neighbour who remembered the family and thought they had moved to the Channel Islands probably Jersey. All further leads taken so far have lead to dead ends.’
Anyone who has any information can contact Mr Sutherland by e-mailing
sutherland-iain@sky.com or they can call the JEP on 611658.
