St Saviour wins top Battle award
Thursday 13th August 2009, 5:26PM BST.
THE Parish of St Saviour has won the Prix d’Honneur at this year’s Battle of Flowers.
Their spectacular float, Hanamachi, was based on a Japanese garden, complete with raked gravel beds, orchids, pergolas, traditional moon gates and beautifully detailed Japanese fans.
The parish were awarded the Jersey Evening Post Trophy for the best float in the parade.
In second place, taking the Prix d’Excellence, was the parish of St Clement with Olympus, another hugely impressive float. Both were in the fully floral parochial class for floats of 40 to 45 feet.

This winning float was truly a stunning piece of work!(As was the Trinity Float)
How about giving this event some proper public funding and use of some suitable space to prepare from that vacant States property portfolio?
Then maybe more Parishes would be motivated to enter floats of this quality.
This is a World famous event and should be being built up as a festival on Carnival lines not wound down as seems to be the motivation of those in charge of the public purse strings!
