A JERSEY business that started as a website is planning to expand into the UK high street.
Feelunique, which is based at St Peter’s Technical Park, opened its first hair and beauty salon last month at Miladi Parade, Longueville. The directors hope that it will become the prototype for a chain of branded salons across Britain.
The new salon at Longueville is managed by Vicky Mactaggart, who is also a lecturer at Highlands College. She trained initially in Glasgow and since moving to Jersey ten years ago has completed a number of professional qualifications. From next month she will continue her studies towards a teaching diploma.
The feelunique.com retail website business was set up four years ago, as Island Cosmetics, by Aaron Chatterley and Richard Schiessl. It is a sister company to The Club hotel and spa in Green Street, which is part of the Huggler Hotels group.
The company now employs 30 staff in Jersey, including five buyers, and has 15,000 square feet of warehouse space plus administrative offices. ‘We have a staff plan which will treble our workforce in the next two years,’ said Mr Chatterley.
