Driver ton helps Optimus close on inaugural CI title

OPTIMUS moved a step closer to becoming the first winners of the NatWest Channel Islands League following a 49-run win against Guernsey’s Argyll Investment on Saturday.
Island captain Ryan Driver led from the front at Grainville with a century – 101 before being the eighth and final wicket to fall having struck 13 boundaries and one six.
Driver’s half century came up in 69 delivers and he completed his ton off 125 balls before being out leg before two deliveries later to Mark Culverwell.
Optimus defended their 211 for eight well and Tony Carlyon bowled tidily with just 16 runs conceded off his first six overs before he finished with one for 19 from nine overs.
Driver supported with three wickets for 24 runs in nine overs, coming on as second change, and Jon Prince chipped in with three overs taking two wickets for 19 runs.
