ENGLAND are into the semi-finals of the World Youth Netball Championships in the Cook Islands after beating South Africa 44-24.

Serena Guthrie started the match as centre for England earlier this morning before switching poisition to wing defence for the final half of the game.

England will look to continue their unbeaten record tomorrow when they take on Australia in the battle for a spot in the final.

Guthrie has played a pivotal part in England’s triumphant performance so far and it was no different against hosts the Cook Islands on Friday.

With both teams unbeaten in their pool the 58-31 win kept England on course to progress into the next round as table toppers.

England showed great ball speed and superior use of the long ball to carve out a 28-16 half time lead which was extended in the latter phases of the game with Guthrie noted for some ‘electric interceptions and turnovers’.

In their final pool game England finished with a 53-20 success over Malaysia with Guthrie coming off after the first quarter following an injury scare.
