Top ten place for shooters

Paul Vibert, promoted after winning Class D last year, shot well to place 11th in his first competition in Class C
JERSEY shooters Steve Le Couilliard and Marc Yates finished in the top ten of the Club Pairs competition at the National Smallbore Rifle Association’s annual meet at Bisley over the weekend.
The Jersey Outdoor Smallbore Rifle Club shooters have landed the Island’s best finish at the meet so far since the competition got under way on Saturday.
Dealing with variable weather conditions the Jersey shooters featured in three individual events at 50 metres and 100 yards in the Weekend Aggregate as well as team competitions against other UK clubs.
In overcast and blustery conditions on Saturday Paul Vibert, shooting at Bisley for the second time this year and having been promoted from winning Class D last year, shot well and finished 11th in the first competition at the higher Class C.
Richard Bouchard was in similar form as his efforts in Class B were also rewarded with 11th place.
On Sunday despite calmer conditions the elements continued to add a challenging dimension with the wind changing direction and strength throughout each of the events.
Yates failed to let that cause too much of a problem as two top 20 placings helped him to 24th in the overall aggregate for the Weekend before he joined Le Couilliard and Kevin de Gruchy to earn Jersey 11th place in the Bank Plate Trophy.
The meeting continues this week with the first rounds of the Grand Aggregate competition.
