HUELIN-Renouf Shipping is increasing the number of sailings between the Channel Islands and Southampton from three a week to five.

From next month they hope to be able to offer a Monday to Friday freight service and will be taking on an extra vessel.

Currently, Condor is the Island’s only daily ferry service and Huelin-Renouf say this will offer customers an alternative.

The company was due to launch a new vessel at the end of last year, to replace the elderly Huelin Dispatch, but the German boatbuilders they had selected said they would not be able to deliver until May at the earliest.

Excellent news..that’s Channel Seaways and Huelin Renouf competing on the freight route …what about some competition now on the passenger side of things. No matter what Condor hides behind under the umbrella of special offers they are still a monopoly on this route ripping off islanders whom have no alternative but to pay their extortionate prices when wanting to travel with a vehicle….

    agree john.
they charge the same price as flying to the south coast of uk for foot passengers.
at one time the boat to uk was about half the price of flying.
maybe if there were more competition and fares came down we would get a lot more visitors
