JERSEY’S Youth Team fully deserved their 1-1 draw with Scotland Under-16s at Springfield last night and a bit of luck and they could well have beaten the annual visitors for the first time.
Jonny Hickling fired the hosts ahead shortly after the interval only for the Scots to level when captain Jack Grimmer nodded home a free kick.
It’s was Jersey’s best result against their Victory Shield preparing opponents who have now been visiting Jersey for several years.
Jersey coach Dave Kennedy said: ‘It’s a great result for Jersey – there was little between the teams and a draw was the least we deserved. Back to front our team was excellent, we had a great shape defensively and we looked very good going forward. We had some fabulous performers too with Scott Johnson, Harry Watkins and Tim de la Haye all outstanding.’
