Potential in Select team from junior rugby clubs

Action from a game between United Banks and Les Quennevais VB Sharks: Burton is impressed with the quality of the forwards
PLAYERS from the Jersey Rugby Association League are good enough to make a JRA XV the second strongest side in the Channel Islands.
That is the verdict of the Island’s JRA coach, Dai Burton, after taking one of three Monday evening training sessions. There are weaknesses, but he maintains that when he has been given all of the junior club players to look at, his side will be good enough to defeat anyone except the Jersey 1st XV.
‘Former chairman Chris Scott asked me to become involved in this year’s JRA league and the Island side has four games to play this season already,’ said Burton.
‘Coming in as a rather reluctant coach at first, I recognise the potential that there is in the junior club sides. We’ve had 25-30 players coming up to our first training night, and I can honestly say that they’re good enough to take on any other team within the Island, including Jersey 2nds, who we’re scheduled to play.’
