RATHBONE OVs have been crowned champions of the NatWest Weekend Premier Cricket League following a ten wicket victory over Aztec Springfield on Saturday.
Andy Dewhurst took four wickets for 25 runs to restrict Springfield to a total of 134, helped by 42 from Dean Morrison, leaving openers Peter Gough and Ed Farley to hit a respective 59 and 75 for the win.
Vice-captain Dewhurst said: ‘We have struggled at times in the season so to come through and win, in what is probably the strongest league we’ve had, is a great achievement.
‘Throughout the season our captain Peter Gough has picked up two centuries, Ed Farley has returned with three really good scores while Sam Dewhurst has really come on with his leg spin bowling.
St Ouen’s title hopes were ended by Farmers-Caesareans who clinched victory with the last ball of the game.
