Electric cars – an important part of JE’s effort to become greener
THE Island’s electricity provider has moved up to Level Two of the States Eco-Active Business scheme.
To achieve the higher rating Jersey Electricity had to show the assessment team that they had ‘significantly lessened the impact of their operations on the environment, over a sustained period’.
Not least, the company has been piloting electrically powered cars and is also promoting heat pump technology in its building services division.
Chief executive Chris Ambler said: ‘We worked hard to gain our level-two status and we’re delighted that we’ve been recognised for the high standards we set ourselves. Sustainability has been an important part of the business for a long time and we continue to investigate ways in which we can help improve the local environment and lower the carbon footprint even further.’
