Carlos Carolo scored the first goal for Portuguese Club
PORTUGUESE Club neared full strength to beat First Tower 2-1 for a place in the Wheway Memorial Trophy semi-final last night.
Despite the atrocious conditions Portuguese joint manager Sergio Carolo said it had been a ‘good game’ that was evenly matched with both teams playing well.
It was Portuguese who were first to take the advantage however, with Jason de Andrade’s hard work on the left hand side rewarded when his cross to the back post was put in the net after half an hour.
A defensive blunder at the back allowed Stuart Daynes the freedom to tap in the ball from close range to grab an equaliser for First Tower late in the first half.
But it was Portuguese who finished the match stronger with Cliff Silva putting the winner away 15 minutes into the second half.
