Thursday 3rd September 2009, 2:59PM BST.
THE British Squash Professionals Association Finals get under way at Jersey’s Squash and Racketball Club today.
It is the first time the event has taken place outside the UK after the Island beat off competition to play host.
The three-day event features the top eight men and top four women after nine and five qualifying events, respectively.
The top seed for the men’s event is World No 21 Daryl Selby and he starts the tournament off at 6.15 pm against Stuart Crawford while the second seed Alan Clyne, Scotland’s No 1 ranked player, is pitted against Peter Billson.
Top seed and World No 9 Laura Massaro, the defending champion, is fancied to take the women’s title and starts her campaign with a semi-final against Kim Hay tomorrow evening.
