HUELIN-RENOUF’S new ship, which can carry 30 per cent more cargo than its predecessor, sailed into St Helier Harbour for the first time this week.

The MV Huelin Dispatch, captained by William Woodard, has a capacity for 167 containers and replaces the former Huelin-Renouf ship which left Jersey waters in December last year.

At 86 metres long and 12.8 metres wide, she is capable of a speed of more than 12 knots. Unlike the old MV Huelin Dispatch, the new ship is fitted with two 35-tonne cranes that can operate individually or in tandem, providing a maximum lift of 70 tonnes.

In two weeks’ time she will be joined by a second ship, the MV Huelin Endeavour, as part of Huelin-Renouf’s multi-million-pound investment in the freight route service, almost doubling the previous weekly capacity.
