Stand up and see what these politicians are doing to our Island

IT seems that the only way to express one’s views about our Island’s government is by sending in a letter in to the JEP.

I have sent letters to Senator Le Sueur and Senator Ozouf regarding States workers’ pay which they have chosen to ignore. They obviously feel that they are far too important to reply to one of their Islanders. I was under the impression that these people were public servants, here to serve the people of Jersey.

Regarding the recent meeting at Fort Regent, only one member of the Council of Ministers felt the need to attend (Senator Ian Le Marquand) , who by all accounts said that he did not want his £1,000 rise as he didn’t need it and that he had taken a £75,000 pay cut to be part of the Council of Ministers.

It was also understood that Senator Le Sueur didn’t attend because he wasn’t invited. It was a ridiculous comment to make and where was Senator Ozouf? Were they both in hiding?

As for he who holds the purse strings, he has deemed to spend £337,000 from the £44 million for a face lift on the seafront promenade at West Park. Hello, recession, we keep being told. What about the Islanders who are on very poor wages, who live in inadequate accommodation, whose children can’t have extra staff at their school etc, because there is no money?

Poor decisions like these only make it more and more obvious that these people need to go. Their workforce has lost all respect and hopefully so have many Islanders.
Please, people of Jersey, stand up and see what these politicians are doing to our Island and our children’s future.
