For some of us, life is a struggle

From James Monnelly.
I WRITE in response to the letter from Anthony Le Poidevin (JEP, 8 September) concerning Jersey Post promoting their Ship2me service. As consumers we have choice on where to shop for our goods.

In an Island where your typical grocery bill is 20-30 per cent higher than the UK you must at times look at other ways of cutting costs.

Perhaps Mr Le Poidevin is well off and therefore does not have the worry of trying to make ends meet. Charity begins at home and at the end of the day you cannot be expected to pay more for goods just to keep your local retailer in pocket and leave yourself short.

I have managed to save 10-15 per cent on buying pet food on the internet rather than using local, overpriced shops. They will always manage to stay in business as Jersey is never going to be short of the likes of Mr Le Poidevin who have plenty of money and have no idea how some of us struggle by.
