A SYSTEM that has been piloted in the Island by Jersey Tourism is being launched to the global market later this year.

FBS Live was a joint initiative developed by The Idea Works, First Research and BlueBox Creativ. It serves as an early warning system for the tourism industry and allows users to identify forward booking trends and adjust their marketing activities accordingly.

The system has been adopted by both Jersey and Guernsey and is now starting to attract interest from tourist bodies in the UK.

As a result, it is being launched at this year’s World Travel Market in November. World Travel Market is a four-day annual event held in London that has become the premier occasion for travel and tourism professionals.

    Marks perspective

Success in the virtual world! This bodes well for the Jersey that frames it’s future in intellectual property and I wish the developers every success, they deserve it.

However as an Island we have to come to terms with the fact that we fund Jersey Tourism to promote tourism and not software.

    Said as Seen

Hmmm… I wonder what this wonderful system predicts… fewer hotel bookings, less passenger bookings on aircraft & sea transport … computes less tourists arriving now and in the near future … genius!!!

If you want I can ask my 9 year old daughter to help you predict how congested the roads will become… she says.. increasing population, more cars on the road, poor transport service, not fit for purpose road network means traffic congestion will get worse.

It’s great this stating the bleeding obvious malarky and passing it off as cutting edge!!!
