The Trek Peru team, who hope to raise more than £30,000
A GROUP of Islanders are this week trekking across Peru to raise money for charity.
The 21 courageous souls set out on 13 September for Peru via London, in hopes of reaching Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas.
While fighting their way up the hundreds of steps on the famous trail, the Trek Peru Challenge team will reach a maximum altitude of 4,200 metres.
Their goal is to raise more than £30,000. The selected charity, Jersey Cheshire Home, said that all participants had been training hard and organising walks at weekends to ensure everyone was prepared.
Chairman of the home Kim Averty said: ‘We are delighted that 21 people have given up their time to take up the challenge and wish them all the very best of luck. The residents look forward to hearing all about their adventures on their return.’
