After finishing second on several occasions, Grace Davies was delighted to win the British longboard surfing championship
JERSEY has two British longboard surfing champions in Grace Davies and Ben Skinner.
Both topped their events in the British Longboard Union series, with the final round held in Gwithian Bay, North Cornwall, at the weekend and success this year brings with it the British Surfing Association National title.
For 20-year-old Davies, competing in the ladies’ event on her new Guts performance noserider board, it was a dream come true to finally win the BSA honour after finishing second on several occasions.
The former Beaulieu Convent School head girl said: ‘I was absolutely over the moon to win. I’ve been working towards it for a really long time as I started contests when I was 15 so I’m really pleased.
Someone who has already competed on that world stage is Jersey-born Skinner, now based in the UK, who was thrilled to win the British title once again.
He said: ‘It’s great for us that we get to do the BLU tour for the British title because it makes it more meaningful.
